Your Home, Your Brain: A New Way to Live
In a world obsessed with aesthetics, we have forgotten that our homes are more than just beautiful backdrops.
They are neural playgrounds.
Stress amplifiers. Healing allies. Cognitive co-creators.
Welcome to a space where interior design meets neuroscience and psychology, where we explore how to use our physical environments to improve focus, elevate mood, regulate our nervous systems, and support the reinvention of self - especially during life's pivotal transitions.
This journal is designed with women in perimenopause and post-menopause in mind, as hormonal changes during this time can make our environment feel overwhelming, disconnected or even emotionally charged.
That said, the insights you will find here are valuable to anyone seeking cognitive wellness, intentional living and peace of mind through spatial design.
Each article unpacks how our surroundings - light, colour, materials, thresholds, rituals and more - can be tools for clarity, not chaos.
Design, when done with intention, isn't just visual. It's neurological.
It is not just design for the eyes, It is design for the brain.
About Me
I have been practicing this service of interior design since 2006, starting out as an interior decorator matching pillows and window treatments with lamps, wall finishes and all things decorative. My inquisition into how i can elevate home spaces led me to study interior design and from there i advanced to studying interior architecture - with a focus on neuroscience and psychology research and its role in informing how our spaces can be used to support our cognitive and physical wellbeing and comfort.
I have always been fascinated by the way spaces make us feel. The right design choices can calm the mind, spark creativity, or even help us focus—but why?
That’s what I explore here.
This blog is where interior design meets neuropsychology - blending aesthetics, function, and form with the science of how our brains respond to space.
Some days, that means diving into the impact of colour on mood or how lighting affects sleep.
Other times, because every interior designer is thrilled by the simple aesthetics of space, i dive into the simple, everyday design choices that make a home feel just right.
I can’t wait to share what I am learning with you, and I would love to hear from you too.
What interior design topics have you been curious about? Let’s explore them together
