Don’t settle for a visually stunning home that exhausts your nervous system.

Create a home that actively aligns with your actual, daily lived experience.

The Sentient Home provides the sensory intelligence layer for new builds, renovations, and high-specification residential redesigns translating architecture, lighting, material, and spatial specifications into physiological performance for the people who live there.

That is the gap we close

We use The NeuroDesign Blueprint™: a science-backed methodology that integrates neuroscience, environmental psychology, and sensory design to create spaces that quiet your mind, restore your energy, and eliminate hidden stressors that drain your capacity.

You are in the right place if:

  • You are mid-renovation or about to begin one, and you want your investment to produce a home that actively restores you — not just one that photographs well.

  • You are building a new home and want the specifications to support your biology from the ground up, not retrofitted after the fact.

  • You are working with an architect or interior designer and you need the neurological layer added to the project brief.

  • You are redesigning your home after a significant life change such as a separation, children leaving, a health shift, a relocation, and you want the new environment to reflect the next chapter, not the one you are leaving.

  • You are a high performer whose home is your primary recovery and productivity infrastructure, and you cannot afford to get the design wrong.

A beautiful renovation that exhausts you is not a successful renovation.

When sensory intelligence is absent from a design brief, the result is predictable: spaces that look exceptional in photographs and feel draining to live in.

Lighting that disrupts sleep. Acoustics that prevent concentration. Materials and finishes that create invisible friction your nervous system manages every day. Layouts that demand more of your body than they give back.

These are not aesthetic failures. They are design errors that compound across every hour you spend at home; and they are expensive to correct after the fact.

Retrospective corrections to acoustic conditions, fixed lighting infrastructure, and structural layout decisions can add €10,000 to a completed renovation for errors that a neurological specification brief would have identified before a single contractor was engaged.

The Sensory Intelligence Brief maps your neurological profile before any design decision is made, so the specifications your architect or design team work from are calibrated to the human being who will live in the space, not a photographic ideal of one.

Working with an architect, developer, or design team?

We work directly alongside existing architecture and design teams to translate light, acoustic, spatial, and material specifications into physiological performance for the occupant.

If you are an architect, interior designer, or developer, we provide:

— A complete Sensory Intelligence Profile for the primary occupant or household

— Neurological specifications integrated directly into your design brief

— Evidence-based recommendations for lighting, acoustics, materiality, and spatial flow, referenced to the occupant’s sensory profile

— A written design intelligence document your team can reference throughout the project lifecycle

The result is a project that satisfies the design brief and the biology of the person living within it.

Available as a standalone specialist integration or as part of a full NeuroDesign engagement.

Our Foundation: The NeuroDesign Blueprint™

Four stages. Every engagement. Without exception.

Assess

Map the neurological and sensory profile of the person living in the home.

Align

Identify precisely what the current home environment is doing wrong and why.

Design

Build a design strategy integrating light, sound, texture, colour, and spatial rhythm into a coherent sensory flow.

Integrate

Anchor these changes to support new rituals, cues, and sensory habits in daily life.

Every service tier is built on this framework.

The scope changes. The methodology does not.

Tier 1: Your Sensory Intelligence Brief

Investment— €795

Before architectural drawings are finalised, lighting packages selected, or renovation contracts signed, audit the space for neurological friction.

The Sensory Intelligence Audit is a 60-minute profiling process that maps how your nervous system processes your environment.

It produces a comprehensive written report that functions as a design intelligence brief: a document your architect, interior designer, contractor or you can work directly from.

At less than 1% of most renovation budgets, the Sensory Intelligence Brief is the most cost-effective design decision you can make before any capital is committed, preventing the most expensive design error in high-end residential projects: building a space that looks right and feels wrong.

The Sensory Intelligence Brief reveals:

  • Your dominant sensory processing patterns and environmental tolerance thresholds

  • The spatial and sensory mismatches creating cognitive or physiological strain

  • How your current life phase, hormonal rhythm, and behavioural context influence spatial regulation

  • Environmental friction zones within your home and their nervous system impact

  • The design levers most likely to restore focus, rest, and coherence

What You Receive:

  • Your complete neurological and sensory profile across five channels: visual, auditory, tactile, thermal, and olfactory

  • The specific friction patterns in your current or planned home environment

  • Priority specifications for lighting, acoustics, materiality, and spatial flow

  • A written design intelligence brief, ready to share directly with your project team

  • A pathway recommendation for the appropriate next engagement tier

Available in English and French. Delivered digitally within 7–10 working days of completion. Available internationally.

If the Sensory Intelligence Brief does not change how you think about your project, we will refund it in full!

Or begin immediately:

What This Brief Is; and Is Not

  • This is not a questionnaire or moodboard exercise.

This is a design brief built around your nervous system. It is how we understand what your home needs to do for you before we begin designing it; combining environmental psychology, neuroscience, and spatial design strategy.

  • It does not diagnose medical or psychological conditions.

It identifies how your built environment interacts with your nervous system, and provides the design metrics to realign it.

Tier 2:

The NeuroDesign Blueprint™ Integration

Remote — €6,500

In-Person (select locations) — €8,500

Your complete, evidence-based interior strategy for deep cognitive quietude and nervous system regulation.

The NeuroDesign Blueprint™ Integration is a twelve-week, evidence-based design strategy for two priority spaces that identifies precisely what living in your home is costing your nervous system and specifies exactly what needs to change.

Twelve weeks. Seven deliverables. Built from your diagnostic data, not from a template.

What is included

1. Complete Sensory Intelligence Brief and spatial analysis

This captures your sensory thresholds, stress triggers and circadian sensitivity, as well as the specific environmental patterns that cause friction in your daily life. The report is the design brief that underpins every specification in this project.

2. Environmental Alignment

A spatial layout and flow model addressing layout, flow, and the unconscious navigational friction that keeps your body in a low-level state of alert.

Your priority spaces will be designed to remove cognitive friction and reduce the high-effort coping behaviours your current environment demands of you.

3. Visual Quietude

Material, finish, and texture specifications specified to your sensory thresholds that reduce visual overstimulation and allow your threat-detection system to settle.

4. Acoustic Containment

Evidence-based methods for controlling low-frequency resonance and reducing auditory stress.

5. Circadian Anchor Lighting Plan

Kelvin and Lux specifications for each space designed to stabilise your cortisol pattern across the day, support sustained cognitive function, and restore your natural sleep cycle.

6. Behavioural Habit Integration

Spatial anchors and environmental cues that support your nervous system's adaptation to your newly redesigned environment across the twelve-week period.

7. Implementation Blueprint

All sourcing direction, spatial dimensions, colour and material specifications, and lighting plan consolidated into one structured implementation document.

This document is yours, regardless of who executes it.

8. Twelve weeks of guided implementation support

You will not receive a document and be left to navigate it alone. Six structured sessions across the twelve weeks give you direct access to our studio, providing guided support through every stage of implementation.

Delivery Formats

Remote

All sessions conducted via video. Brief, report, and full Blueprint delivered digitally. Available across Europe and internationally.

In-person

Includes a full on-site spatial assessment at your home prior to strategy sessions. Currently available in France and select European locations.

Full Execution of Your Two Priority Spaces

Blueprint engagement fee, plus 15% of the total managed project cost for both spaces.

If you would like us to manage the complete implementation of your two priority spaces, we will manage every element on your behalf, including sourcing, procurement, delivery and installation. You will receive a fully designed and installed environment without having to coordinate any vendors or trade relationships yourself.

The scope is determined by your Blueprint findings and your agreed project budget. Some clients require a targeted refresh of materials, lighting and furnishings. Others undertake a more structural reconfiguration.

The 15% fee applies to the total managed cost, which is confirmed before sourcing begins.

The add-on includes:

- full sourcing and procurement of all specified materials, furnishings and fittings;

- delivery coordination and logistics;

- contractor and trade oversight where structural work is involved;

- installation management and quality review;

- a final walk through on completion.

You can choose the add-on at the start of your engagement or at any point before sourcing begins. Either way, your Implementation Blueprint remains yours in full.

Timeline

The blueprint will be delivered within 7–10 days of completing the brief. This is then followed by a twelve-week guided implementation.

Here's what people are saying

About Lolade Ajai

Interior Designer. Neuroscience Researcher. Creator of The NeuroDesign Blueprint™.

I have worked on projects where the brief was sound, the finish was exceptional, and the client came home to a space that still did not feel right.

That gap is what my methodology closes.

I translate neuroscience, environmental psychology, and sensory research into a structured design methodology that holds up to the most demanding residential briefs.

The NeuroDesign Blueprint™ was developed across fifteen years of design practice, applied research, and the recognition that every human being processes their home environment differently, and that design must account for this if a space is to perform as intended.

The Sentient Home now works with private homeowners, families navigating complex sensory and relational demands, and architectural and development partners across in Europe and internationally.

When the specification is right, you stop noticing the space...

You arrive home after a demanding day and within the hour your body has begun to recover without effort.

The lighting has shifted. The acoustic environment has settled. Nothing is demanding your attention.

That is the difference between a home that has been styled and a home that has been calibrated

Your home is your largest capital investment.

It should be designed for the human who lives in it.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. At what stage of a renovation or build should I engage you?

As early as possible; ideally before architectural drawings are finalised. The Sensory Intelligence Brief can be completed in a matter of days and produces a design brief your team can work from from the outset. Engaging early eliminates the need to correct neurological friction retrospectively, which is considerably more expensive than building it correctly in the first place.

2. Can you collaborate with my existing architect or design team?

Yes, and this is one of the most common ways we work. We integrate directly alongside existing teams as the Sensory Intelligence Specialist — providing the neurological layer that translates your occupant’s sensory profile into specifications your architect or contractor can implement. Many design teams specifically engage us to add this dimension to projects where the structural and aesthetic brief is already in place.

3. What does the Sensory Brief add to an existing design brief?

An existing design brief tells your team what the space should look like. The Sensory Brief tells them what the space needs to do for the person living in it at a physiological level — specifying lighting by Kelvin and Lux rather than fixture preference, acoustic management by frequency rather than material feel, and materiality by sensory threshold rather than visual style. It converts subjective preferences into measurable specifications.

4. How is this different from standard interior design?

Standard design starts with how a space looks. The NeuroDesign Blueprint™ starts with how the person living in it processes their environment neurologically, then designs for both. The result is a space that is exceptional to look at and genuinely restorative to live in.

5. What if the renovation has already started?

The Sensory Intelligence Brief can be completed at any stage of a project. If decisions have already been made, the report identifies which specifications are still open for optimisation and which remaining design elements have the highest neurological impact. Introducing sensory intelligence mid-project consistently produces better outcomes than not introducing it at all.

6. Do you work internationally?

Yes. The Sensory Intelligence Brief and the NeuroDesign Blueprint™ Integration are both fully available remotely, across Europe and internationally. Full-service design is available for select projects. Contact us to discuss scope and location.

7. What if I am renting or cannot make structural changes?

The Blueprint can be adapted to non-structural interventions: lighting adjustments, furniture placement, material introductions, and sensory layering. Many of the highest-impact specifications in the Blueprint require no structural work.

Contact us to discuss what is achievable within your constraints.

8. What happens if the engagement is not the right fit for my project?

The Sensory Intelligence Brief carries a full refund guarantee: if it does not change how you think about your project, we refund it in full. For the Blueprint Integration, a structured stage-based refund policy applies at every point before the Implementation Blueprint is delivered. The terms are confirmed in your letter of engagement before any work begins, so there are no surprises at any stage of the process.
